Spring is in the air. Soon the temperatures will be warming up, the grass will get green and flowers will blossom. This time of year makes us want to get outside and soak up the sun. There are also lots of ways to bring spring into your kitchen to make it feel light, airy and cheerful.

Before you break out the spring decor, spring clean your kitchen so it’s fresh and sparkling and contact professional Hicksville plumbers to repair appliances or leaks.

Windowsill Garden

Plant a small herb garden and let it flourish in your windowsill. This is perfect for the kitchen because you’ll always have fresh herbs at the ready and the greenery will add color and texture to the room. But, you don’t have to stop at herbs; add any kind of plant you want or arrange a collection of bud vases for spring blooms.

Hang a Wreath…Or Two

If you have a backdoor in your kitchen, hang a spring wreath on the inside to make the space more cheerful. Even if you don’t have a door here, you can get the same look by hanging a wreath full of yellows, greens, whites, blues or pinks on a cupboard door. If you have lots of cupboards, try hanging small wreaths on an entire row of doors.

Lighten up the Window Treatment

There’s something about the fresh spring air and sunshine that makes us want to freshen up rooms. Swap out heavy drapes for light, flowing ones or opt for a Roman shade or simple valance instead. This simple update is easy to do but makes the whole room feel summer ready.

Create a Tablescape

Get out some light-colored dishes and a spring tablecloth, placemats or runner. Complete the look with seasonal napkin rings or a beautiful centerpiece. Think vases of flowers, greenery, baskets and ribbons. Scale down this look for a smaller table or so you can keep it out all day without cluttering up your table space.

Keep it Simple with a Vase

You can’t go wrong with the classic spring vase. This is perfect for the kitchen, as there are so many surfaces to decorate and a vase full of flowers can soften up the hard counters, appliances and floor. Change out the vase regularly with flowers from your garden or pick up an arrangement at the grocery store.
